Broken Things - July 2026

Some demos, songs, and covers written and recorded over early summer/spring, most of this will probably end up on something at some point. Mainly made to show my friends and family what I've been working on. Everything here is pretty unfinished, and some of it is not very good!

Bute Park Song

A song about the best place on earth! Also mostly about finding living in moments where you know you want to change but you don't know how to yet, or something like that

Roswell 1995

In 1947, a balloon crashed in Roswell, New Mexico and the U.S military claimed it was from a 'flying disk' before retracting that and claiming it was from a weather balloon. In late 1994, it was revealed that the debris was actually from project Mogul, people who dedicated their lives to conspiracy theories in the ~50 years in between these two events and then had their worldview shattered. This song is about that

Excuse Me (Moth song)

Based on the thrilling true story of a moth flying into my eye at like 3am, written immediately after the fact and put to music the next day. I mangle my hand playing the complex system bit so it'll be a while before the whole thing is recorded properly. I didn't like this song much but I kept it because my friend Jess seemed to like it, everyone say thank you Jess :)

Drowning Boy aka Cough it up

Heavily inspired by an example I heard that I think is from Pete Singer's "Famine, Affluence, and Morality". A book which I'll admit I haven't actually read.

Background Terror

Made for a game jam game that never got finished, my friend still works on it from time to time so I'll link it here if it ever gets released.

Feels Like 40

The UK (and a large chunk of the world really) was going through a terrible heatwave, I went to the library to try and cool down and wrote this in about 5/10 minutes. I don't think I would've thought this song was good enough to bother coming back to but another heat wave hit as I was recording some other songs so I recorded this too. Heat exhaustion gets a partial writing credit and performing credit here I think. My worst song

Song for a monday morning

This song is about when things suck so bad you have to change, which is a good thing but also kinda sucks. Its also about a crow we tried to save, RIP

Bankrupt on Selling (Modest Mouse Cover)

Recorded before I ever wrote my own songs to practice singing and playing guitar. Now its here! Not included in the download

Hikikomori (Crywank Cover)

Same as the Modest Mouse cover but more embarrassing, the vocals are fun to do but I accidentally laugh at myself at the end.

Ain't it the life (Mischief Brew Cover)

Pretty good, considering - March 2026

This album/ep thing was written in the week leading up to valentines day (by coincidence). To stop myself from never actually finishing anything I made myself write a song every day that week, I ended up doing all of these really late at night so I had to get around to recording a lot later, all of the recording was done in 2, hour long sessions throughout march. What little mastering was done was done in a day, which should explain some of the weirdness especially in track 5. Two of the written songs were not included because they were shit, I promise this is a net good. Some intentional plagiarism of Paul Baribeau and Pat the Bunny happen on track 5 "song singing makes me happy" and "not changing is death" respectively. Some accidental plagiarism probably happens throughout too, sorry! But its meant with love which makes unoriginalality ok! Anyways, none of that really matters. What matters is this album is an attempt to write about surviving and loving your friends, which were very pressing issues the week this was being written. Tell all of your friends that you love them, and then tell them all to download hit band "Queer Use for Cloisters"'s debut work "pretty good, considering" from queeruseforcloisters.bandcamp.com
